Description
[Air, wind, light, and lightness are our common denominators.] Susumu Shingu, a world-renowned artist, and Renzo*Piano, a world-renowned architect. The two, who will turn 86 this year, will introduce a total of 10 projects and more! Susumu Shingu and Renzo*Piano met through a competition for the Kansai International Airport. Renzo*Piano, who was selected as the designer, told Shingu, who was attracting attention as a "wind artist," that "we have succeeded in designing a beautiful flow of air. But alas, no one can see it. Could you please make it visible, with minimal equipment?"] That was the beginning of the request. Since then, the two have collaborated on a total of 10 projects in Italy, the United States, Greece, and Japan. This book introduces their collaborations as well as their representative works. It traces the collaboration between the artists and architects across national borders and their history together with abundant photographs.
