Description
KarachoFounded in the Edo period (1624), Karacho is the only karakami shop that has continued uninterruptedly to the present day. Karacho is famous for its more than 650 varieties of karakami, which are made using hanki (wooden planks) passed down from generation to generation and decorated with patterns on Japanese paper, and are used for sliding doors in historical buildings such as Katsura Imperial Villa and Nijo Castle. Representative patterns from itagi that have been handed down for over 400 years are dyed into furoshiki (wrapping cloth). The unique unevenness of the pigment and the deep and elegant shine of the mica printing are fully expressed on the furoshiki cloth. Please use it as a furoshiki, as a fukusa, or as a gift for a loved one.
