Nuki-iri is a thin pattern of cracks on the surface of pottery due to the difference in the expansion rate of the glaze and the base material during firing.
The coloring of food and beverages may stain a piece with a "kan-iri" pattern after long use. To prevent this to a certain extent, soak the pot in rice brine before use.
