This is the second book by Masaki Maruyama, who made a splash with his first children's book [Deaf*Voice: Sign Language Interpreter in Court] (Bunshun Bunko), following his first children's book [Water Maki Jiisan to Library no Princess-sama]. The main character is Miwa, the child of the second marriage of a sign language interpreter who is also a coder. Eichi, Miwa's good friend, moved away and changed schools at the end of the previous book. Miwa, who has been communicating with Eichi in sign language, who is a scene-stealer, begins to communicate with him by letter after he transfers to a new school. Miwa has a younger sister, and as she tries to figure out what to call Arachan, who is not her real father, she begins to worry about various things. Meanwhile, Miwa becomes concerned about a large wall clock that remains stationary at the barbershop she usually goes to, and everything subtly becomes intertwined in the exchange of letters with Eichi. The importance of sign language communication is also deepened in this work, which subtly incorporates themes that we want children to be aware of. An explanation of sign language is included at the end of the book.
