Description
| These luxury shawls are made in the Kashmir region of northern India, close to Pakistan. It is made by a technique called "crab weaving," in which dyed threads are wound around small wooden bobbins (sticks), and a bobbin is threaded through each warp thread to create a pattern. The weaving is done on a loom, but the back threads are cut by hand, which is a very time-consuming and labor-intensive process, and there are very few craftsmen who can do it today. The material is 100% wool. It is durable and very warm. The detailed paisley pattern is very beautiful and goes well with both Western and Japanese clothing. It is a gem of a shawl that will make anyone who wears it look elegant. |
