The dhamru (or damaroo) is a traditional folk instrument found in the Indian subcontinent* Tibetan Buddhism, among others. In Hinduism, it is known as the instrument of Lord Shiva, who is said to have created and ordered the universe with its spiritual sounds. For this reason, it has been given a sacred status in the world of Indian folk music, and it is believed to radiate spiritual energy whenever it is played.

It is simple to play, and sound is produced by spinning it around like a dengaiko drum. The antique-looking wood with goatskin leather affixed to it has a solemn, atmospheric texture that makes it very attractive as an interior decoration item.
