This is an authentic fountain pen with an itachi hair tip. The deer antler is dyed by Akiko Miyazaki, who succeeded in reproducing the ancient technique of Akane Dyeing by reading and understanding the Engishiki (Engishiki), a book written in the Heian period (794-1185).

Akane, the color of the sun and life, is the endemic color of Japan. In Nara, there are many Akane-dyed treasures, such as the Akaito Oyoroi armor of the Kamakura period (1185-1333) preserved in Kasuga Taisha Shrine, as well as in Horyuji Temple and the Shosoin Repository. However, it is said that the technique of Akane Dyeing was discontinued after the Muromachi period (1333-1573). Akiko Miyazaki, who was fascinated by the existing treasures and the color of Akane that decorated armor, began her research on dyes, and succeeded in reproducing the ancient technique of Akane dyeing in the Nara period by reading the Engishiki, a book written in the Heian period (794-1185). This time, Akiko Miyazaki dyed the antlers of a deer in Akane and used them as the axis of the Kuretake Yume Ginga. The silk cloth is dyed 3 to 5 times to produce colors ranging from light akane to scarlet, but this time the deer antlers were dyed 7 times to achieve a deep red with a sense of transparency. Akane is loved by men and women of all ages. The deer antler dyed with Japanese Akane, which is indigenous to Japan, will give you a deep and lustrous red color as you hold it in your hand.
