Description
| This is a 70cm size furoshiki (wrapping cloth). Hyotan has many seeds, which means to wish for the prosperity of offspring and fertility. The gourd's vines are also a symbol of prosperous business because of their ability to entangle with things. (Gourds belong to the vine family.) It is rare to find a pattern with so many meanings, and this pattern has been popular as a lucky charm for a long time. The design is a modern arrangement of traditional patterns, and the colors range from calm to bright and fresh. To accentuate the wrapping, colored items are scattered throughout the gourd pattern. In a wooden Gassho-zukuri factory that has been in Kyoto for 110 years, craftsmen continue to dye each furoshiki carefully one by one, using the traditional technique of hand-dyeing.
