Description
| This is a furoshiki (wrapping cloth) of approximately 90 cm in size, created in collaboration between mashu and Tukiyomi design. Scale pattern" is a pattern consisting of a series of triangles. The name "scale" comes from the fact that it looks like the scales of a snake. Since ancient times, people have put their wishes into scale patterns to be protected from bad things. They are often used in kimonos and obis as gifts to ward off bad luck, especially for women in bad years, or to ward off evil spirits. Mashu's "scales" is based on the traditional "scale pattern" motif, with undulating triangles and triangles of various sizes interspersed throughout the design. With gold and silver foil as accents, it is perfect for wrapping gifts in [uroko] as well as for celebratory gifts. In a wooden Gassho-zukuri factory that has been in Kyoto for 110 years, craftsmen continue to dye each furoshiki carefully, one by one, using the traditional technique of hand-dyeing.
