ネパールの首都から少し離れた緑豊かな村の、小高い場所にたつピンク色の可愛いお家。
そのなかにある小さな工房では、6人の職人たちが働いています。
工房にはいると、カンカンカン！と真鍮を打ち付ける音が響き渡ります。
真鍮の板の表面に一つずつ打ち込みを入れていく工程は、とても力の要る作業。
そこから繊細な形を糸鋸で切っていくのです。
どんな細やかなモチーフも、熟練の技と根気のもと、一つ一つ美しい形にかたどられていきます。
わずか数センチの小さな小さな手仕事に、作り手の思いが豊かに込められた真鍮アクセサリー。
相手の幸せを願うネパールの言葉、「subakamana(スバカマナ)」と名付けました。
