乾季には気温が45度を超えるインドの刺繍村。
そこで多くの女性たちが子育てや家事をしながら、一刺し一刺し、丁寧に刺繍をほどこしています。
厳格な家父長制が色濃いこの地域で、男性なしに女性が自力で生きていくことはかなり過酷です。
ですが、刺繍の仕事を得られることで、女性たちが誇りをもって
「自分の未来を自分で担ってみせる」と言えるようになってきているのです。
針と糸。
そこに作り手の技術と想いが重なれば、人の心を動かすものづくりも、未来を変えていく力も、生み出していけるのだと私たちは信じています。
「細部のこだわり」
ポイントは手刺繍だけではありません。
縫製担当の作り手も、技術を駆使してこだわりのディテールを作りあげてくれました。
まずは肩側にはいった5本のタック。
アシンメトリーなデザインもまた、おしゃれなスパイスです。
ヒモには細やかなステッチが走ります。
細部の細部にまで、ものづくりの気配を宿しました。
襟はあえて小ぶりに仕上げています。
可愛らしくなりすぎず、凛とした印象ももつネックラインに。
ボタンはシェルボタンを採用しています。
小さなところにも自然素材にこだわりました。
