*Traditional Nepalese items

This cup is called "manu" (mano/manu) in Nepal, and it is said that before the unit of one kilo was introduced, beans and rice worth one manu* or two manus were traded using this cup as a unit. Even today, you can see it in every household in the countryside.

If a neighbor gives you 1 manu of rice or other food, it is polite to give back a heap of rice instead of a cup of rice, because if you give back less than 1 manu, you will suffer on your deathbed. This is the explanation of Dr. Sarada, a Nepalese staff member in Tilakita.

*Usually used

The cup has such a very interesting cultural background, but its colon shape is so lovely that you may want to use it as kitchenware as well...(^^) It is a wonderful item that can be used as a copper glass, a flower vase, or just to look at.
