■世界の維持神 ヴィシュヌ
ヒンドゥー教の重要な3人の神の中の1人。世界の維持神で、さまざまな10の化身を持っているとされる神様ヴィシュヌとラクシュミーのポスターです。人間世界が大変なことになったとき、巨大なお魚や小人だったり別の姿に変わって人々を救済してくれている神様。
有名な化身ではクリシュナがいます。他には、叙事詩ラーマヤナのラーマもヴィシュヌの化身です。この化身のことをサンスクリット語で「アヴァターラ」というのですが、ネットでよく耳にする仮想のキャラを意味する「アバター」の語源はここからきているらしいですよ。
