Description
Potter Igarashi Tsutomu, Drift Ice, 7" base plate This impressive stand dish has a rough-cut shape of a leg, reminiscent of drift ice, and a clear blue color that seems to shimmer and shimmer. The vessels are carefully crafted by hand, and no two are alike. This work is full of simple beauty. Beautiful as an appetizer or dessert dish, or as an accessory tray. [Artist:Tsutomu Igarashi] Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. Currently working in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture. Spends most of his time surrounded by pottery. Igarashi works at a pottery in the city on weekdays, and creates his own unique vessels on his days off. He lives and works in a small space. We can feel Igarashi's passion and commitment to his craftsmanship in his living environment where he can make pottery at any time. Most of his living space is occupied by the potter's wheel, potter's wheel, and finished or prototype works, leaving very little space for living. He spends most of his time surrounded by pottery, both on weekdays and holidays. It is a lifestyle that only an extraordinary love of ceramics can provide. I want to make things that can't be mass-produced. Although this seemingly difficult double job has its upsides, there are many things he can learn from working at a local pottery. For example, the characteristics of clay. Porcelain, in particular, is difficult to work with, and is apparently unsuitable for making thin, complex-shaped vessels. Therefore, Igarashi says that he now uses semi-porcelain clay more and more. I was surprised to learn that there are different types of porcelain. He also says that the fact that he now has a probability of having a route to purchase clay is an advantage of his current job. While working at the pottery during the day, if he comes up with an original idea that cannot be mass-produced, he returns home and immediately tries it out. This environment seems to be the best for Igarashi at the moment. However, Igarashi would like to have his own studio someday. With his enthusiasm and love for ceramics, it is a dream that is not too far away. Recommended uses: appetizer plates, pinchos plates, dessert plates, sashimi plates, trays, accessory trays *Click here to see other items in the [Drift Ice] series / Series Item *Click here to see the list of new items in order of arrival / New Item *View Popularity |
