ソルガムとはモロコシと呼ばれるイネ科の一年草のことで、穂先がしなやかでわずかに油分を含むのが特徴です。
中でも穂の部分が長く揃っているモロコシは、昔から座敷箒（ざしきほうき）の原料として使われてきました。
