Moldavite was once thought to be a meteorite, but it is now known to be a type of tektite that cooled and became glassy when a huge meteorite hit the earth. The jagged, scratched, bumpy, and uneven surfaces are the result of the cooling process, and these features have been used to create sculptures and cameos that are highly prized as jewelry. Mortavite is a tektite discovered in the Moldav river in the Czech Republic in 1787. After that, tektites were produced in various places, and they are named after the place of production, such as Australite, Filipinite, Javanite, and so on. 取り扱う全商品において、日本国内一点づつ手作業で拭き、検品、パック後、心をこめて梱包出荷しております。
モルダバイトはかつては隕石だと思われていましたが、現在では巨大な隕石が地球に衝突した際に冷やされてガラス状になったテクタイトの一種であることが明らかになりました。
表面にあるギザギザや傷、こぶ、凹凸などはその冷却時にできたもので、その特徴を利用して彫刻品やカメオなどに加工され、宝飾品として珍重されています。
モルタバイトは1787年にチェコのモルダヴ川で発見されたテクタイトです。
そのあと各地でテクタイトが産出されましたが、オーストラライト、フィリピナイト、ジャワナイトなどのように、産出地を冠して名称がつけられています。
