『愛の守護石』『真実の愛を守りぬく石』と呼ばれるアメジストは、2月の誕生石として有名ですね。
古代から多くの人々に愛されてきたとされる、アメジストの紫色。
特に日本では、最も気高い色とされ、宗教的な儀式では非常に大切にされてきた色と伝えられています。
歴史的には、聖徳太子が定めた『冠位十二階』で最高位の色として崇められ、特に中国では皇帝だけが身につけることを許された色といわれています。
