A rich experience that expands from a single confectionary
How to enjoy Japanese confectionery that satisfies both body and soul

Cute appearance and simple sweetness. Wagashi gives you a moment of relaxation in your daily life. Although they are a familiar part of our daily lives, there are probably many people who feel that they have a high hurdle to overcome or just eat them without much understanding of what they are.

This book is a collection of knowledge and ideas to enrich and deeply enjoy wagashi in modern life. It also includes basic knowledge about the ingredients, history, and techniques of wagashi, as well as seasonal flavors, how to enjoy wagashi using all five senses, choosing the right wagashi utensils for serving at home, pairing wagashi with tea and coffee, how to use wrapping paper, and easy-to-make wagashi recipes. In addition, 24 new wagashi that are evolving day by day are introduced from the supervisor's point of view. Please enjoy the encounter with modern wagashi that are close to our daily life, such as sweets made by individual artists and new efforts by long-established stores.

Our guide is Minako Horibe, a Kyoto resident who was active in the creative unit [Nikka], which incorporates an artistic perspective into wagashi. Wagashi is a traditional Japanese confectionery, but we want to make it more accessible in our modern lives. Not only to eat, but also to experience the richness that expands from a single piece of wagashi. We will propose ways to enjoy wagashi that satisfy both body and soul.
