This train was newly built and deployed at the Shin-Tsurumi engine in 1977, and after the privatization of Japan National Railways, it was repainted in its characteristic test paint in 1987 (1987), and remained in service until 2009. 登場以来様々なシチュエーションで活躍した万能機EF65、その中でもかつて新鶴見機関区に所属していた1059号機を再現いたしました。
1977（昭和52）年、新鶴見機関区に新製配置された本車両は、国鉄民営化後の1987（昭和62）年に特徴的な試験塗装へと塗り替えられて2009年まで活躍ました。
最小走行半径はR95と大変コンパクトです。
