| Kannon Bosatsu (Goddess of Mercy) appears from the Paradise far to the west for the salvation of sentient beings. It is said that if one prays to his graceful figure on a gorgeous lotus flower, he will purge away all kinds of bad luck and bring good fortune by turning around difficulties. The water dripping from the water jar in his hand is said to cool the heat of desire and dispel defilement, offering salvation to all those who are afflicted with hardships.
