| The 16 Zen deities depicting the origin of the Great Perfection of Wisdom doctrine are displayed as the principal images at the Great Hannya Kyoe, a ceremony to pray for good health, a bountiful harvest, and peace under the heavens. Under the central canopy are the Sakyamuni Buddha, Fugen Bosatsu riding a white elephant, and Monju Bosatsu riding a lion. The composition of the painting was widespread throughout Japan during the Kamakura period (1185-1333). Please display this traditional auspicious painting to pray for the fulfillment of your wishes. *TENREADING: The reading of the sutra is done by opening the sutra wide while reading the title of the sutra and the mantra, and then reading the entire 600 scrolls.
