Description
| The red berries of the nanten tree stand out against the New Year's decorations of bamboos and pine trees. It has long been regarded as a tree of good luck, and in the Edo period (1603-1867), it was planted in the gardens of many houses to ward off bad luck. It is also often used as a motif for kimono obis, and adds color and splendor to celebrations as well as the New Year. |

赤い実が、竹や松のお正月飾りにひときわ映える、南天。古くから「難転（難を転ずる）」縁起木とされ、江戸時代には、厄除けとして多くの家の庭に植えられていました。
また、きものの帯のモチーフに使われることも多く、新春はもちろん、お祝いの席にも彩りと華やかさを添えてくれます。
