私は、幼い頃から絵や工作が好きで
自宅で絵を描いたり、何かを作ったり、
また、近所の造形教室に通ったりする日々を過ごしました。
私のそうした嗜好や性格のため、
「三つ子の魂百まで」ということわざの通り、
その後本格的に彫刻家の世界を目指し、
ご縁あって今日、仏師の道を歩んでおります。
また仏像彫刻の限りない楽しさを広めたいという想いで
仏像彫刻教室を開き生徒さんと共に日々、
仏像彫刻を楽しんでいます。
本書では仏像彫刻教室をやってきた中で
初心者のお悩みである、
どんな彫刻刀を選ぶのか?
彫刻刀をどうやって使うのか?
など基本から彫っている途中のつまずきやすい所を
より詳しい手順を写真で紹介して教室の講習を
再現しています。
