Description
| Kyokutemari is an acrobatic performance in which a ball is kicked or poked as a spectacle. This performance by Kikukawa Kunimaru, who was well known in Edo, is performed by an anthropomorphic cat, a work unique to Kuniyoshi, who was known for his love of cats. The performance depicts the ball being moved over the body [Yaezakura] and the cat crossing a pile [Ranuguwatari] while kicking the ball with its cute paws [Ranuguwatari]. |
