Description
| Kichijo Koma" is created by a wood craftsman in the tradition of Miyajima-zaiku, which is also designated as a traditional craft. The Japanese designs on the koma are beautiful and deeply reflect the history and culture of Japan. These patterns can be found on kimonos, ceramics, architecture, and many other places, and are inspired by nature, seasons, history, and religion. Ichimatsu: The checkered pattern is an unbroken series of squares, symbolizing endless expansion and a wish for development and prosperity. The beautiful balance of black and white or other contrasting colors expresses harmony and balance. Sayagata: Sayagata means "weave" or "mingle" and symbolizes harmony and cooperation. It also includes a wish for permanence and prosperity. Seigaiha (blue ocean waves): This pattern resembles waves with repeating semicircles, representing the waves of the ocean. It contains a wish for a peaceful everyday life. Karakusa: This pattern of intertwining vines symbolizes the vitality and prosperity of plants. It is intended to wish for lasting prosperity and happiness. Yagasuri: Straight forwardness and goal attainment: The arrow flying in a straight line symbolizes going straight toward one's goal, symbolizing success and progress. It is also meant to wish one good luck in one's new life. Hishimonyo: The diamond shape symbolizes expansion and development because of its shape. This pattern is meant to wish for prosperity and success. It is also considered an auspicious pattern and is often used in celebrations and ceremonies. |
