| Handmade textured shimenawa tapestry printed with block printing, a traditional Indian technique. The design depicts a shimenawa rope, which has long been popular as a New Year decoration. This shimenawa tapestry will liven up any New Year's celebration. We focused on a simple and rustic design that can be easily displayed in both Western and Japanese-style rooms. It can be easily displayed like a poster and folded compactly for storage in the off-season. As each piece is handmade, there may be splashes of ink, uneven colors, and draft lines, but please enjoy them as a unique feature of handmade products. IMPRESSION De BLOC means "block print" in French. Block printing is a traditional craft in Jaipur, India, where hand-carved woodblocks are used to press ink onto fabric. It is said to date back to BC, and this historic technique was favored in European regions and exported from India in large numbers. Although the block print technique had been in decline for a while, it has been revisited in recent years and established as one of the most popular handmade items. It is a labor-intensive process of applying multiple layers of ink to create colorful and intricate patterns, but the result is a gentle handmade texture that cannot be achieved by machine. インドの伝統技法ブロックプリントで印刷された、ハンドメイドの風合い豊かなしめ縄のタペストリー。

新年のお祝いの場を賑やかにしてくれるしめ縄のタペストリー。

IMPRESSION De BLOC(アンプレッシオン・ドゥ・ブロック)とはフランス語で「ブロックプリント」という意味。
ブロックプリントとは手彫りの木版を彫り、その木版を使って布にインクを押し付けていくインド・ジャイプールの伝統工芸です。
はじまりは紀元前にまで遡るとも言われており、この歴史ある技法はヨーロッパの地域で好まれインドから多数輸出されていたとされています。
一時衰退してしまった時期もあったブロックプリントの技法ですが、近年見直され注目のハンドメイドアイテムの一つとして確立しています。
カラフルで複雑な柄を幾重にもインクを重ねていく手のかかる作業ですが、その分機械では出せないハンドメイドならではの優しい風合いが生み出されます。
しめ縄の下には、「Happy New Year / May this be a happy and fruitful year （あけましておめでとうございます。今年が幸せで実りある一年になりますように）」のあたたかいメッセージ入り。
重さのあるしめ縄も、タペストリーなら手軽に飾りつけが出来て、保管や収納も楽々。
ペットや小さいお子様のいるご家庭でもイタズラされる心配がなく、安心してお使いいただけます。
