[Made*in*Tsubame certification mark]. *The Tsubame Chamber of Commerce and Industry has inspected and certified the origin and quality of the products produced in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Tsubame Chamber of Commerce and Industry] and certified as a product of Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture. *Manufacturing in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, a town of craftsmen. Starting with the forging of Japanese nails 400 years ago, the production of hammered copperware, which originated from the development of Mase Copper Mine in the mid-Edo period, as well as the manufacture of portable writing tools, smoking pipes, and cutting tools, such as rasp files, flourished in the city. 400年前の「和釘鍛冶」に始まって、江戸中期の間瀬銅山の開発に端を発する「鎚起銅器」の製作のほか携帯筆記用具としての「矢立」、喫煙用具の「煙管」、切削用具の「鑢(やすり)」などの製造が盛んに行われた。和釘の衰退、洋食器の台頭へと幾たびかの危機に出会いながら、そのたびに変革を成し遂げ現在の燕の産業がある。
「職人の町」として職人が切磋琢磨し、新しい商品を常に製造・開発している。
