Compared to the Extra Thin Series, which is woven with ultra-fine count yarn, this fabric is just a little more firm. It took a long, long road to create such a beautiful fabric. Sisamu designers send fabric samples from Japan to Mahaguchi, Nepal, and Mahaguchi then sends them to the fabric factory for judging to see if they can be made. Because it is difficult for designers and fabric makers to communicate directly with each other, it often takes time to make minor corrections. When we finally received the finished sample from the fabric maker, we found that the fabric was made with an unexpectedly thick yarn. This fabric is difficult to wear in summer*! and the exchange with Mahaguchi was back again. It took more time than we could put into writing, and many efforts to communicate to the local craftsmen, but finally it was done. You can feel the lightness, softness, and coolness when you try it on. We hope you will try this new fabric that we have created together with the producers. カフスレスの袖はまくっても雰囲気が崩れません。
袖まくりすると、ほどよい抜け感をプラスしてくれます。
左右に大きめポケット付きなのも嬉しいポイント。
機能性にもこだわりました。
「新しい生地を作るということ」
細い糸で繊細に織り上げられた生地は、よくよく見るとチェック柄。
極細番手の糸で織られたエクストラシンシリーズと比べて、それよりもすこーしだけしっかり生地。
そんな素敵な生地が出来上がるまでには、ながいながい道のりがありました。
シサムのデザイナーが見本となる生地を日本からネパールのマハグチへ送り、 マハグチから生地工場へ「作ることは出来るか」のジャッジが行われます。
デザイナーと生地職人が直接やりとりすることが難しいため、細かい修正に時間がかかることもしばしば。
そしてようやく生地職人から出来上がったサンプルが届いたと思ったら、想定外の太い糸で出来上がった生地でした。
この生地では夏に着ることが難しい・・・！とマハグチとのやり取りが再び。
文章には出来ないほどの時間と、現地の職人さんへ伝えるための工夫を重ねて重ねて、ようやく出来上がりました。
着てみてわかる、この軽さと柔らかさ、そして涼しさ。
生産者と一緒に作り上げた新しい生地、ぜひお試しいただきたいです。
「2色の糸が作るニュアンス」
細番手の糸で織り上げた少し透け感のある生地。
二色の糸を使った遠目には無地にも見えるほど細かいチェックで、立体感とニュアンスのある色を表現しました。
