This time, from the collection theme [botanical garden], we created a dress with the image of a gardener. [I feel like a gardener.] This piece has a clean silhouette. In fact, there are details that remind us of people who work in the garden. Stitch lines running here and there on the collar, placket, and cuffs add a work feel. The cuffs are tucked in to add a little volume. Patch pockets on both sides have holders for pens and scissors. The small playful touches add to the feeling of fun. The slits on both sides allow for good leg room. This is a piece that accompanies you in your daily activities, making you really want to work in the garden. [Garden scenery in the pockets]. The pockets are embroidered with flowers and grasses, as if the scenery of the garden has been infused into them. The flowers and grasses swaying in the spring breeze are expressed on the edges of the pockets. It is a subtle and delicate detail. Chikan embroidery, which is a traditional Indian culture, was carefully sewn stitch by stitch by women in the village. Their workplaces are their respective residences. They work daily while being watched over by their children and goats, in a place where their lives are closely connected with housework and child-rearing. [Hand to hand] A long, long journey continues until a piece of clothing is completed. The first step is to sew the base garment. The clothes are sewn with a sewing machine in a small workshop. Since there are many times when the power goes out, the sewing process is carried out steadily with a footstep. Next, the block prints that will serve as the base for the hand embroidery are pressed. Carving such delicate patterns is also a job that is left entirely to the skill of the human hand. In a room as small as 1 or 2 tatami mats, with blocks lining the walls, the block presses continue. Next, the women of the embroidery village receive the blocks. It takes several days to embroider a piece of clothing. After that, the clothes are washed, inspected, and so on. 過ごしやすい季節に、一枚は欲しいのがガーゼワンピース。
ふんわりと空気を含む心地よさは、やみつきになります。
今回はコレクションテーマ「botanical garden」から、ガーデナーをイメージした一枚を作りました。
「気分はガーデナー」
すっきりとしたシルエットのこの一枚。
実は細部に、お庭仕事をする人をイメージしたディテールが添えられています。
襟や前立て、カフスなど、あちこちに走るステッチラインで、ワーク感をプラス。
袖口にはタックを入れて、ボリュームを少し入れました。
両脇のパッチポケットには、ペンやはさみを入れられるホルダーを入れて。
小さな遊び心に、気分が高まります。
両脇スリットで足さばきもよく。
本当にお庭仕事をしたくなるような、日常の動きに寄り添う一枚です。
「庭の風景をポケットに」
ポケットには、お庭の風景が吹き込まれたような草花刺繍が。
春風にゆれる草花の様子が、ポケットの縁に表現されています。
あくまでもさりげなく、繊細なディテールを添えました。
インドの伝統文化である「チカン刺繍」は、村の女性たちが一針一針、丁寧に縫い上げてくれたもの。
彼女たちの仕事場は、それぞれの住居です。
家事や子育てなど、生活が密接にある場所で、子どもたちやヤギに見守られながら日々仕事をしています。
「手から手へ」
一枚の服が出来上がるまで、長い長い旅が続きます。
まずはベースとなるお洋服を縫い上げるところから。
小さな工房にて、ミシンで縫製をしていきます。
停電が起こるときも多いので、その際は足踏みでカタカタと地道に進めていくそうです。
次に手刺繍の下絵となるブロックプリントを押していきます。
こんな繊細な模様を彫っていくのも、すべて人の手が成す技にゆだねられた仕事です。
壁一面にブロックが並ぶ、1,2畳くらいの狭さの部屋で、ひたすらブロックを押し続けます。
そして次に受け取るのは、刺繍村の女性たち。
一枚の服の刺繍を仕上げるために、数日はかかるそう。
そのあとも洗濯や検品など、たくさんの人を介して、一枚の服は出来上がります。
手から手へ、手から手へ。
その一枚を最後に受け取る誰かの日常が、楽しく豊かになることを願って。
「空気をまとう心地よさ」
空気をふんわり含んだ、柔らかなコットンガーゼ生地。
生地が2枚に重なった間にできる空気の層で保温性にも優れ、エアコンや汗による冷えから体を守ってくれます。
肌触りの良さだけでなく、通気性と吸湿性もあり、蒸し暑い季節にも重宝します。
暑いインドでは珍しい生地のため、特注して織ってもらっているシリーズ。
原始的なタイプの織機を使うことで、機械織りの生地なのに、ふっくら柔らかい肌触りをお楽しみいただけます。
