ドロップショルダーでお作りしたことで、まとう姿に美しい抜け感が。
普段シャツを着ない方でも、この一枚は気軽に袖を通しやすいはず。
前後差のある裾のラインや両脇にはいったスリットで、横からの佇まいにもこだわりが感じられます。
スタンドカラーで、シャツならではの凛々しさも大切にしました。

そんな言い伝えから、右胸のポケットの中に、ニームの葉をこっそりと手刺繍でしのばせませています。
どんな刺繍なのかは、この一枚をまとった人だけのお楽しみ。
見えないところに、心豊かになる小さなお守りをほどこしました。
背守りには、薬草であるトゥルシーの刺繍を。
こちらは自分では見えないけれど、周りの人が目にしてほっこりしてくれるはず。
インドの伝統文化である「チカン刺繍」は、
村の女性たちが一針一針、丁寧に縫い上げてくれたもの。
彼女たちの仕事場は、それぞれの住居です。
家事や子育てなど、生活が密接にある場所で、
子どもたちやヤギに見守られながら日々仕事をしています。
「手から手へ」
一枚の服が出来上がるまで、長い長い旅が続きます。
まずはベースとなるお洋服を縫い上げるところから。
小さな工房にて、ミシンで縫製をしていきます。
停電が起こるときも多いので、その際は足踏みでカタカタと地道に進めていくそうです。
次に手刺繍の下絵となるブロックプリントを押していきます。
こんな繊細な模様を彫っていくのも、すべて人の手が成す技にゆだねられた仕事です。
壁一面にブロックが並ぶ、1，2畳くらいの狭さの部屋で、ひたすらブロックを押し続けます。
そして次に受け取るのは、刺繍村の女性たち。
一枚の服の刺繍を仕上げるために、数日はかかるそう。
そのあとも洗濯や検品など、たくさんの人を介して、一枚の服は出来上がります。
手から手へ、手から手へ。
その一枚を最後に受け取る誰かの日常が、楽しく豊かになることを願って。

空気をふんわり含んだ、柔らかなコットンガーゼ生地。
