When her husband was unable to work due to the pandemic, she was able to support her family with her income. [I think we should be compassionate and helpful to others. That way, no one is alone, no matter how hard times are. This is how we get through the hard times]. When I asked her about her cherished ideas, she told me. No one should feel alone, neither herself nor others. These women, who turn their embroidery work into a way of life and live while helping each other, continue to support the fair trade scene today. [Airy and Comfortable] Soft cotton gauze fabric that softly contains air. The layer of air between the two layers of fabric provides excellent heat retention, protecting you from the cold caused by air conditioning and perspiration. It is not only soft to the touch, but also breathable and moisture absorbent, making it useful in hot and humid seasons. 「サムソンニシャさんのお話」
2008年からカラティマクで働いているサムソンニシャさん。
チカン刺繍の名手で、30年以上刺繍の仕事を続けています。
夫がパンデミックのせいで仕事ができなくなってしまった時には、彼女の収入で一家を支えていたことも。
「私たちは思いやりをもって、他の人の役に立つべきだと思います。
そうすれば、どんなに大変な時でも誰も一人にはなりません。このように大変なことを乗り越えていくのです。」
大切にしている考え方を尋ねると、彼女はそう教えてくれました。
自分も他者も、誰も孤独を感じないように。
刺繍の仕事を生きる力に変えて、助け合いながら暮らす彼女たちの姿が、フェアトレードの現場を今日も支えています。
