He is a serious, responsible, and dependable leader. His father died early in life, and his mother raised their four children, including Ilam, by herself. In this region, where the strict patriarchal system is still strong, it is said that it is quite tough for women to survive on their own without men. Having watched her mother sew since she was a child, she also opened the door to support women's independence through clothing production. "I want to work and live by myself." In a society where it is still considered unorthodox for women to work independently, Ilam's strong desire has spread like a ripple and has become a source of strength for many people involved in Karatimak.
