The buttons are actually handmade by craftsmen who have individually hollowed out the shape and smoothed the surface. Bone buttons made of buffalo bones are used, and natural materials are used in the smallest details. [Machine weaving supported by handwork] This extrathin fabric is characterized by its transparency, light texture, and soft comfort. Although the fabric is made by machine weaving, it is still supported by the careful work of the maker. First, dyed skeins of yarn are wound onto cones to be set on the weaving machine. The yarn is then wound around the cone, and the weaver arranges the yarn into a beautiful state. Then, the neatly wound yarn is set on the loom. One by one, the ultra-fine threads are threaded through the heddles, which are used to make room for the weft threads to pass through. Threading the threads through the tiny holes is an extremely tedious process, and the skill of the weaver shines through. The loom used to weave the fabric is a little more advanced than those used for other fabrics. Even so, the producers keep a close eye on the weaving process, as the threads can break when weaving with ultra-fine yarns. Even though it is machine woven, the careful and steady work of the makers supports the production of the fabric. The resulting extra-thin fabric is soft and comfortable to the touch. As the name suggests, the use of very fine yarns makes it possible to create a fabric that feels as if it is wrapped in the wind. 軽くて柔らかくて、着ていることを忘れそうなほどの薄いエクストラシンの生地。
ゆったりとしたシルエットで、風を通り抜けるような涼しさです。
「ゆとりあるデザイン」
身幅にゆとりがあることで、ノースリーブのトップスに気軽にさっと羽織ることができます。
実はボタンは一つ一つ形をくりぬき、表面を滑らかにした、職人技の光る手作りのもの。
水牛の骨でできたボーンボタンを使い、細かなところにも自然素材にこだわりました。
「手仕事が支える機械織り」
透け感のあるさらりとした風合いと、柔らかな着心地が特徴のextrathin(エクストラシン)生地。
機械織りで作られた生地ですが、その作業を支えるのはやはり作り手の丁寧な作業です。
まずは、染色されたかせ状の糸を、織り機にセットするためのコーンに巻き取る作業。
ぐるぐると巻かれた状態から、作り手によってきれいな状態に整えられます。
そして、綺麗に巻き取られた糸を織り機にセットしていく作業。
横糸が通る場所をつくるために使う綜絖(そうこう)という部分に、極細の糸を一本ずつ通していきます。
小さな小さな穴に糸を通していくのはとても気が遠くなるような作業で、作り手の熟練の技術が光ります。
生地を織るのに使う織り機は、他の生地のものより少し先進的なんだとか。
それでも極細の糸を使って織る際には糸が切れてしまうこともあるため、生産者は目を離せません。
機械織りとはいえ、作り手の丁寧で地道な作業が生地の生産を支えてくれているんです。
そうして出来上がった、ふんわりと肌触りの心地よいエクストラシン生地。
その名の通りとても細い糸を使うからこそ実現する、風をまとうかのような着心地をお楽しみください。

extrathin(エクストラシン)生地は、極細の糸を織り込んだ生地のため、軽くて涼やかで、高級感もあります。
