[Tokoname ware] Tokoname ware is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, and its origins can be traced back to the late Heian period. Tokoname ware is characterized by the use of iron-rich pottery clay from the Chita Peninsula. Taking advantage of this property, the iron is used to produce a reddish color, which is called shu-odori, The color of the pottery that characterizes Tokoname ware was produced. |
