It is a folk art of the Igbo (Igbo) people living in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea, and is used as a waistcoat or ceremonial wall hanging.

It is made of thin cotton fabric, sewn with raffia fiber threads, dyed with indigo, and dyed with a dye-proofing technique.

The patterns drawn by tie-dyeing represent their secret societies, animals, and other traditional motifs that have been passed down from generation to generation, each with its own meaning.

*Ibo people

The Igbo (Igbo people) make up 20% of Nigeria's total population and also live in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Before the British colonial rule, they existed as a semi-autonomous community without a king or chief. They had a relatively high level of education and produced many low-level officials and military personnel, and were sometimes called "black Jews" for their business acumen. Many of today's African Americans and Afro-Caribbeans are thought to be part of the Ibo ethnic group.

*Care Instructions
Since it is dyed with indigo, the color may fade* and transfer.

If you are concerned about stains, wash gently with a small amount of mild detergent. Hot water is not recommended as it may cause severe color fading.

Also, please note that the color will fade faster if the product is dried in the sun or used in a place where it is exposed to the sun.

When washing in water, adding vinegar to the water will help to retain some of the color, but there is a possibility that the color will come out and settle, so it is better to wash in a tub or trough where you do not mind getting the color on it, rather than in a washing machine, washbasin, or other place where it is difficult to exchange the color.
