Description
Old Mosi indigo-dyed cloth with a vintage look This is an old Mosi-style indigo-dyed cloth with exquisite color bleeding. It is not freshly dyed indigo blue, but has a good frayed look due to the aging process. The grafts and holes in the weave also add depth of flavor to this piece of cloth. It can be used as an accent on a wall, hung as a partition, or draped over a sofa. It is a highly versatile cloth that can be used as an accent for interiors with a vintage feel. Indigo dyed by the Mosi tribe Hand-woven on horizontal looms widely used in West Africa, this cloth is woven in narrow strips and sewn together horizontally to form one large piece of cloth. Yorubaindigo or Indian indigo is used for indigo dyeing, and natural dyeing is still carried on today. Women spin cotton into yarn, which is then woven into cloth by men. The indigo dyer then dyes the cloth. Mosi Tribe The Mossi are an ethnic group living in the savanna region of West Africa, centering on Burkina Faso, and are well known for their lack of writing. Instead of writing, they use drum language, which is said to be able to convey complex messages and subtle nuances that cannot be conveyed in words. |

*Photographs are for illustrative purposes only. Colors may appear different depending on the device.
*Please be careful of color transfer due to indigo dyeing. *Because this is a vintage cloth made by traditional techniques, uneven coloring and dye stains may be seen. Please understand that these are characteristics of "handmade work" and should be treated as such. Also, there may be stains, fading, holes, tears, and fraying that are unique to old fabrics. Please refrain from purchasing this item if you are not comfortable with the smell and stains unique to old cloth. |
