Description
| Jakuchu Ito Soft double gauze hand towel This is a hand towel with a cute puppy by Jakuchu Ito, a painter active in the Edo period. It is made of double gauze material, which is soft to the touch and absorbs water well. It is made in Japan. [Jakuchu Ito is one of the most famous Japanese painters of the Edo period, and was born in Nishiki Market in Kyoto. He left behind many works, from national treasures to important cultural properties, ranging from ink-only ink paintings with a bold touch to colorful and delicate styles of painting. Jakuchu Ito [Kasonehansu], National Treasure and Important Cultural Property, Photo by KYOTOMUSE (Kyoto National Museum) This large work depicts the entry and exit of the Buddha into nirvana, and uses fruits and vegetables (vegetables and fruits) to depict the nirvana. In the center of the painting, the Buddha is represented by a double-lobed radish placed on a prone basket, and the eight sarasangi trees are represented by corn. The various bodhisattvas, arhats, and animals that mourn the Buddha's death are also represented by various vegetables and fruits. |
