Description
*Instruments for festivals and worship Traditional percussion instruments called ga (rnga) in Tibet and diangro in Nepal have arrived. This instrument has membranes on both sides and is played by striking it with a plectrum. The wooden handle of the diyangro is carved with a Buddhist carving called a keela. As can be seen from its shape, the diyanglo is a musical instrument for rituals and worship rather than a musical instrument for music. In Nepal, the dyangro is played by a shaman called a jakri during traditional ceremonies. In Tibetan esoteric Buddhism, the rnga is played for the same purpose as in Japanese Buddhism, where drums are sometimes played to pray. |
