Description
*Simple but profound This is a simple stringed instrument with only one string that has been passed down through the ages in the Hindu world. It is called by names such as ektara, ertara, and gopichand. One hand holds the middle of the instrument and plucks the strings with the other hand. By lightly gripping the hand that is placed in the middle of the instrument as you pluck, you can enjoy the changes in sound. It is a simple instrument, but it has a primitive and deep sound. This is a rare item found not in India but in Nepal. At Tilakita, we have imported directly from Nepal a well-made instrument that can be played by professionals. It is a piece that can be enjoyed both as a collection item and when actually played! |
