| *Pastry blender for convenient baking This is a pastry blender from Thailand used for making pastries such as pie dough, scones, and cookies. It is used to mix butter and other fatty ingredients with flour. It mixes the dough faster, more efficiently, and more evenly than by hand, resulting in crispy pies and cookies. It is particularly suitable for pie crusts, where cold butter is used and the dough itself needs to be kept from getting too hot, so in that respect it is also suitable because the temperature of the hands is not transferred. In Japanese pastry making, a card (skipper) is more common, but pastry blenders are widely used, especially in North America and European countries. It is believed that the reason why this device is often used is rooted in the traditional European culture of pie baking. In Japan, they are still not very well known, but recently they are increasingly being used for pie and cookie baking. ■お菓子作りに便利 ペイストリーブレンダー
こちらはタイからやって来た、パイ生地やスコーン、ビスケットなど、お菓子作りに使われる調理器具です。バターなどの脂肪分と、小麦粉を混ぜるために使われます。手作業よりも速く、効率的、均一に生地を混ぜることができ、パイやビスケットがサクサクとした食感に仕上がります。
特に、パイ生地では冷たいバターを使い、生地自体の温度を上げない工夫が必要なので、そういった点でも手の温度が伝わらないので適しています。
日本のお菓子作りでは、カード(スケッパー)の方が一般的だと思いますが、特に北米や欧州諸国ではペイストリーブレンダーが広く使用されています。この器具がよく使われているのは、ヨーロッパの伝統的なパイ作りの文化が根底にあると考えられています。
日本ではまだまだあまり認知されていないですが、最近はパイやビスケット作りなどに使われることも増えてきています。
