インドの西、カッチ地方にあるブジョーディ村から美しい手織りのショールです。
カッチ地方最大の都市であるブジからわずか8kmのところにあるブジョーディ村。
カッチ地方では1年を通じてほぼ雨は降らず、寒暖差も激しいので、農作物を育てるのも困難といいます、その中、唯一発展したのが刺繍や織物といった手工芸でした。
そんな綿や羊毛などインド織物産業の中心地であるブジョーディ村では、繊細なデザインと熟練の技で、美しいショールを織り続けています。
1本1本、糸を紡ぐところから始まり、形になるまでは気の遠くなるような道のり。1枚織るのに、3か月から1年近くかかるものもあるといいます。時間をかけて丁寧に、職人の技で織りこまれたストールは贅沢で上品な仕上がりになっています。

■高い保湿性のメリノウール
使用されているのは、高い保温性と伸縮性のあるメリノウールです。メリノウールの毛質は非常に繊細で、毛が絡み合っている分、保温効果もあり、程よい伸縮性があると言われています。また、適度な吸湿性もあるので、湿気をよく吸収し、汗をかいても湿った感じがしません。そのような理由からも、近年ではアウトドアブランドでも重宝されており、インナーやソックスに使用され、秋冬のアイテムに欠かせない自然素材です。
