Description
| I go to pick up what I can't see. That's why I built my own kiln in Hanaseki Takahiro Kondo, who was born into a family of potters in Kyoto and has been highly acclaimed in the field of contemporary art for generations, has built his own climbing kiln in Hanase, Kyoto in 2024 as a base for his future activities. Why did he choose a climbing kiln as a place for the culmination of his creative activities, which can be considered the opposite of the thoroughly controlled creations he has made in the past? This book, with essays and photographs, describes his 30-year journey from his involvement with the climbing kilns in Fukui, Miyagi, and Yoshino in Nara to his own climbing kiln in Hanase, Kyoto, and his struggle to leave pottery, his transformation, and his contemplation. |
