These very popular pants won first place in the general election for the fall/winter 2012 season! The more you wear these pants, the more you will become accustomed to the hand-woven fabric, and you will surely grow attached to them. [Points of particular interest]. As the name suggests, there are a total of four large pockets on the front and back! These pockets also have the effect of making the waist look slimmer. The short length makes these pants suitable for petite people. The waist is comfortable to wear with elastic ties. We have also added an elastic changeover opening so that you can wear them for a longer period of time. The silhouette is moderately tightened by tucking in the side hems. [At the hand weaving factory] There is a factory in Bhaktapur, Nepal that produces Sisamu hand-woven fabrics. The factory currently employs about 30 women, all of whom live near the factory and commute from their homes. Work usually starts at 10:00 a.m. at the factory, but not on days when there are many orders. In order to complete the many woven fabrics by the delivery date, everyone gathers at 8:00 a.m. to start weaving the fabrics. On such busy days, the factory manager, Mr. Birendra, provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the working women, and they are all very happy about it. This shows that the relationship between the factory manager and the working women is very good. I am sure that the thick hand-woven fabrics delivered this season were also woven in a friendly atmosphere. 「手織り工場の現場にて」
ネパールのバクタプルにシサム手織り生地を作ってくれている工場があります。
工場は現在約30名の女性が働いていて、みんな工場の近くに住んでいるので自宅から通っています。
いつもは10時から工場で勤務が始まりますが、オーダーがたくさん入った日は違います。
沢山の織り生地を納期までに完成させるため、みんな朝8時から集まって生地を織り始めるのです。
そんな忙しい日は工場長のビレンドラさんが朝・昼・晩と食事の提供をすることにしていて、働く女性たちはみんな喜んでくれるそう。
工場長と働く女性たちの関係性がとてもいいことが伝わってきます。
今季届いた厚手の手織り生地もきっと和気あいあいとした雰囲気で織られたのだと思います。
着心地の温かみの向こう側に、作った人の手仕事を感じてもらえることを願っています。

ヨコ糸に太さにムラのある極太の糸を使用した風合いの良い手織りの厚手生地。
