The wool is then scrubbed with hot water and soap to form felt. This process is quite strenuous*. Then, each piece of felt is dexterously inserted with a special needle. This delicate handiwork is done with a precision of a few millimeters, and even the slightest amount of force can change the expression of the felt. 山に囲まれたとてもきれいな場所にフェルト工房の一つがあります。
フェルトの原料である大きな羊毛のかたまりが天日干しされている風景は、圧巻ですね。
お湯と石鹸をつかってゴシゴシこすることで、フェルトの形になっていきます。
この作業、結構体力が要るんです・・・。
そして、一つ一つのフェルトを、専用のニードルを使って、器用にぷすぷすと刺していきます。
僅かな力の加減でも表情の変わる、数ミリ単位の繊細な手仕事。
フェルトアイテムに全く同じ表情のものが一つとして無いことにもうなずけます。
丁寧にかたどられた、唯一無二の愛らしい手仕事。
