Description
Tochigi is known for its "Mashiko pottery. Because the temperature at which pottery is fired and the temperature at which glass melts are different, ceramic and glass products are rarely seen together. Since the glass melts differently in each of the two pieces, you can choose a cardholder that is unique to you. There is also an aroma stone type that can be soaked with aroma oil. [What is Mashiko ware?] Mashiko Pottery was born in Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture, and is one of the representative ceramics of Japan. The appeal of Mashiko pottery was popularized by Shoji Hamada, the first Living National Treasure*, and today the town is known as a pottery town where artists and lovers of pottery gather from all over Japan. The pottery fairs held in spring and fall are so crowded that more than 100,000 people visit from all over the country. Mashiko pottery is characterized by the fact that there is no set formula for how it should be made. Each artist expresses his or her own individuality, and each piece is unique. The wide range of expressions includes simple pieces that make use of the texture of the clay and modern pieces that show off the colored glazes. Mashiko pottery is an essential part of daily life, and the more you use it, the deeper its flavor deepens. We hope you will enjoy the depth of Mashiko pottery in your hands. |
