[Product Description]

Lapis Lazuli is probably the most famous blue natural stone!

The blue color varies from light to dark to deep blue, and brass-colored flecks (pyrite) and whitish streaks (calcite) may also be present.

The Japanese name is seikinseki, which is derived from the main component of the blue part.

Blue gold is called Lazurite.

Lapis lazuli is a natural stone of mineral aggregates and belongs to the soda (sodalite) group.

The main mineral components are lazurite, sodalite, austenite and noshean.

The secondary components are pyrite and calcite.

The main sources are Afghanistan, Chile, Russia, Tajikistan, Canada, and other countries.

Lapis lazuli has a long history, having been mined in Afghanistan since the Neolithic Age and exported to various parts of the world.

Beads of lapis lazuli have been found as ornaments in settlements in the northern part of the Mesopotamian civilization in the 4th millennium B.C.

In ancient Egypt, only pharaohs, royalty, and priests were allowed to wear the stone.

It is said that the stone was prized by successive pharaohs and was sometimes given a value comparable to that of gold.

Lapis lazuli has also been used as a pigment for masterpieces in paintings of the past.

The blue pigment called [Vermeer blue], named after the painter Johannes Vermeer, is made from lapis lazuli and is called [ultramarine].

Lapis lazuli is a gemstone that has been used as a part of precious objects such as ornaments for much longer than we modern people can imagine.
