ハマムとは公衆浴場・サウナのことで、ゆったりとスチームのお風呂で汗をかいて、あかすりをしたり、マッサージをしてもらったりします。このときにぐるっと体に巻いたり、体を拭いたりするのに使われているのがこのハマムタオルです。トルコ語でペシュテマルと呼ばれています。平織りのため、パイル地の一般的なタオルとは違い、タオルというよりは日本でいう手ぬぐいのようなもので、手触りは滑らかで軽くて、薄いです。コチラのストライプデザインは、やや厚みがあってふっくらとした織りです。
