| The Hile series was born from the feminine design by Rina Ono and the handiwork of Tsuruya Shoten, which has been making rattan furniture that meets the needs of the times while remaining timeless. The details of wicker baskets, which have been popular since ancient times, have been retained in a size that fits in with today's lifestyle. It can be placed next to the sofa, by the bed, on the laundry, under the table, or in other familiar places to store blankets, towels, magazines, and other personal items. Conventional baskets are made of wicker (rattan), which is woven or rolled to give it strength, The Hile series uses a thicker material for the frame, The Hile series uses a thicker material for the frame, creating a light and soft texture while respecting the texture of the rattan. Rattan is neither bamboo nor wood, but a vine of the palm family that grows wild in tropical Asia. It is very similar to the Chinese character for rattan, though, [Rattan] is [bamboo canopy], and [rattan], which blooms in spring with light purple flowers, is [grass canopy]. Rattan has a history of more than 1,000 years since it was introduced to Japan, and in those days it was used for the handles of bows, spears, and naginata (halberds). The material is light, strong, elastic, and flexible. Rattan comes in a wide variety of types, including those that thicken as they grow, those that are thin even when stretched, and those that are hard. Craftsmen carefully craft rattan by assessing its properties and incorporating traditional Yamagata vine-work techniques such as bending, weaving, and coiling.
