Higashihara Kiln/Ryoichi Hashiba

Born in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture in 1934. Studied under ceramic designer Sakuzo Hineno. After refining his pottery skills in Tokoname and Kyoto, he opened Higashihara Kiln in 1956 in Dachi Town, Toki City.
He produced a variety of excellent works from daily necessities to large pots using first-rate ceramic techniques such as cinnabar, kairagi, Kizeto, Oribe, Shino, and kushime.
He held many solo exhibitions and received various awards, but due to his advanced age, Higashihara Kiln was regrettably closed in 2008.
