Tea utensils by SALIU in collaboration with Minamikama.
The vessels are made entirely by hand, from the kneading of the clay, and are imbued with a profound sense of serenity. -Minami-gama Minami-gama is a workshop located in the mountains of Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. The craftsmen, Mr. Takumi Kudo, a traditional craftsman, and his wife, Yukie, work together to make vessels every day. They knead clay, mold, mix glaze, paint, and fire all processes of production by their own hands, and deliver refined vessels in which their thoughts are reflected in every detail. -The work is made with a brush of rust and gouzu on a bare surface like a white wall, expressing the serenity of leaves swaying in the wind. -Suiyou - [翆] is a deep and vivid green. It is a profound vessel made of coarse clay covered with the traditional Oribe glaze of Mino ware. |
